The fixtures were supplied by rental companies MB Electronic and All Stage.
This version of Cats took place in a circus arena big top tent. Seven of the CS 1200E ATs were rigged from a 22 meter trussing circle that formed part of the tent superstructure. These fixtures played a central narrative role in transporting the audience’s focus away from the action tasking place in front of them in the actual circus arena …… and into the minds and memories of the cats.
A single CS 1200E AT was placed in the front of the stage to capture the principal actors and also to focus on specific areas of the scenic design which the follow spots could not reach. This same unit also supported the two front and two rear follow spots when an additional spot was needed.
The remaining 4 ColorSpots were placed on booms shooting across the stage at low level, creating the right mood for the amazing dancing scenes.
The Robe ColorSpot 1200E AT was chosen for this musical because of its high light output, great colour mixing and accurate movements.
Another advantage– specially for theatre applications – is its extremely smooth and precise 16-bit movement when positioning gobos accurately.
